Safety Assessment Review of a Dressing Assistance Robot

Hazard analysis methods such as HAZOP and STPA have proven to be effective for assurance of system safety years. However, the dimensionality human factors uncertainty many assistive robotic applications challenges capability these provide comprehensive coverage issues from interdisciplinary perspectives in a timely cost-effective manner. Physically tasks which range dynamic contexts require continuous human–robot physical interaction e.g., robot-assisted dressing or sit-to-stand pose new paradigm safe design methodology. For types tasks, considerations made where robot-assistance requires close contact with users. Current regulations mainly cover industrial collaborative robotics regarding (pHRI) but largely neglects direct contact. In this paper, we explore limitations commonly used techniques when applied scenarios. We detailed requirements user perspective consider user-bounded hazards that can compromise complex pHRI.
